LETTER: Puccia Has Their Votes For School Committee

To The Editor:

As a long time resident of Tewksbury, I would like to invite you to join my husband and me in supporting Lisa Puccia for School Committee.  I have known Lisa for over 10 years and not only is she a great friend, loving and devoted wife and mother, but an involved parent.   

For 9 years I had the pleasure of working side by side with her as a co-chair of the Tewksbury Special Education Parent Advisory Council (TSEPAC).  Having worked with Lisa on different initiatives through this organization, I can attest to her commitment, sincerity, and results oriented approach.  Lisa was instrumental in establishing the TSEPAC as a non-profit organization so that it could hold its own fundraisers to raise funding without impacting the schools budget.  This allowed the TSEPAC to start such programs as The Outreach Program for Soccer (TOPS) and Little Reds Basketball for children with disabilities, offer annual scholarships to TMHS graduates, as well as workshops and seminars for parents.  Lisa’s commitment to children has been unwavering earning her the respect of local and state legislators for her work as an educational advocate. 

For those of you that don’t know Lisa, aside from being an educational advocate, she also is a strong advocate for veteran’s issues, especially around those suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  Over the years she has been a constant support for veterans and their families and has devoted her time to them in any way she can.  Her father, who was a retired police officer and a veteran, passed away in November 2009, and suffered from this disorder.  She also has a sibling that is affected by this as well.  Even many years after her father’s passing, these issues continue to remain near and dear to her heart.  

While people may paint her as a “special education” candidate, she is far from that.  Lisa is diverse and takes the time to understand the issues.  She will pursue ways to work with the school administration to reduce special education spending without impacting services.  She will also work collaboratively other boards and departments in town to make sure that we are using every penny wisely and responsibly.  That’s the type of person we need representing our children.

We highly recommend Lisa for a position on the Tewksbury School Committee, and we hope that you will join us on April 6^th in casting a vote for Lisa Puccia for School Committee.
