Lowell Man Accused Of Stealing $40K In Jewelry From Tewksbury Home

Johnny Luna was arrested after a monthslong investigation by 6 police departments, including Tewksbury, Lowell, Chelmsford and Wilmington.

TEWKSBURY, MA —A Lowell man was arrested Tuesday and is accused of stealing $40,000 in jewelry from a Tewksbury home in March, the Tewksbury Police Department announced.

Johnny Luna, 44, was charged with breaking and entering, which is a felony, according to police. The suspect was arraigned Wednesday in Lowell District Court, where he was ordered held on $50,000 cash bail, according to police.

Tewksbury police said Luna was charged as the result of an investigation that included collaboration with police in Lowell, Chelmsford, Burlington, Wilmington, Westford and Dracut.

According to the Tewksbury PD, a break-in was reported on March 29 at a Tewksbury home on Whipple Road, and more than $40,000 worth of jewelry was reported missing.

Luna was identified as a suspect after a lengthy investigation involving several police departments, authorities said.

The Tewksbury PD said the investigation included multiple search warrants of Luna's home and of a vehicle connected to Luna. There also was court-authorized use of video surveillance, police said.

At 7 a.m. Tuesday, Tewksbury PD detectives, working in collaboration with the Lowell PD and Chelmsford PD, arrested Luna at his home in Lowell.

According to authorities, Luna is also a suspect in multiple other incidents throughout the region.
