Lowell Man Arrested In Tewksbury On Firearm And Drug Charges
Police said Daniel DiGiovanni was arrested after a search of his vehicle during a routine traffic stop.

TEWKSBURY, MA — A Lowell man faces firearm and drug charges after he was arrested Wednesday night in Tewksbury during a routine traffic stop, the Tewksbury Police Department said.
Daniel DiGiovanni, 47, has been charged with carrying a firearm without a license (second offense), possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of ammunition without a FID Card (subsequent offense), possession of a Class A substance (subsequent offense), possession of a Class B substance (subsequent offense), operating with a suspended license (subsequent offense) and having an unregistered motor vehicle, police said.
According to police reports, at approximately 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, a TPD detective conducting routine surveillance on Andover Street observed a vehicle with an expired registration.

The detective pulled over the vehicle and learned that the driver, DiGiovanni, had a suspended driver's license, according to police
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, police located two small baggies containing fentanyl and crack cocaine in the driver's compartment, and they found a 9mm semi-automatic handgun with a loaded 17-round magazine in the vehicle's trunk, the TPD said.

DiGiovanni was arrested at the scene and was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Lowell District Court.
