Lowell Man Arrested In Tewksbury. Loaded Gun, Machete Found In Car

​Jeremias Pino-Hernandez was arrested on a previous warrant. A search of his vehicle has led to new charges.

TEWKSBURY, MA — A Lowell man was arrested early Friday morning in Tewksbury and charged with multiple weapons offenses following a traffic stop, the Tewksbury Police Department said.

Jeremias Pino-Hernandez, 23, faces four charges: carrying a firearm without a license, a firearm violation with two prior violent/drug crimes, possession of ammunition without a FID Card and carrying a dangerous weapon.

According to police reports, at approximately 1 a.m. Friday, a Tewksbury police officer was monitoring traffic in the 170o block of Andover Street when he located a driver, Pino-Hernandez, who was wanted on a default warrant out of the Lowell District Court.

The officer pulled over the suspect and took him into custody, the TPD said.

During an inventory search of the vehicle that Pino-Hernandez was driving, police located a 9mm handgun containing eight rounds, which was found in the center console of the vehicle, according to the department.

During a later search, police found a titanium machete, which was wedged between the driver's seat and center console, the TPD said.

According to authorities, Pino-Hernandez was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Lowell District Court.
