Man, Woman From Nashua, NH Accused Of Tewksbury, MA Vehicle Break-In

Derek Hammerle and Michele Nault have been charged with breaking and entering and drug possession. Both also had outstanding warrants.

TEWKSBURY, MA — A man and woman from Nashua, New Hampshire were arrested early Tuesday in Tewksbury, Massachusetts after being accused of breaking into a vehicle and being in possession of illegal drugs, the Tewksbury Police Department said.

Derek Hammerle, 38, and Michele Nault 32, both have been charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle and possession of a Class E substance, according to the Tewksbury PD. Both also had outstanding arrest warrants, police said.

The suspects were scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Lowell District Court, authorities said.

According to police reports, at approximately 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Tewksbury PD received a call from a resident on Ferncroft Road, who reported the breaking and entering of a vehicle in progress.

When officers arrived at the scene, they learned that a suspect or suspects had attempted to break into a car, but had fled when the car's alarm sounded, the Tewksbury PD said.

The police said that officers soon found Nault walking nearby. The officers discovered that Nault was wanted on a warrant out of Woburn District Court, and she was taken into custody, Tewksbury police said.

Another Tewksbury police officer and his K-9 partner then tracked the second suspect, Hammerle, through yards along Ferncraft Road and into an area of high-voltage power lines, the Tewksbury PD said.

That's where Hammerle emerged from the brush, according to police. Officers discovered that Hammerle was wanted on three default warrants, and he was taken into custody, police said.

The Tewksbury PD said that police also found approximately 34 tablets of Gabapentin on Nault and in a vehicle that the pair allegedly drove to the scene.
