Memorial Day Events in Tewksbury

Memorial Day is Monday, May 25 and events in Tewksbury will take place at Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East St. from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.
The Memorial Day Parade follows the events and starts at 2 p.m. at the Town Common located at 1009 Main St.

This year’s guest speaker is Air Force Col. David Hiltz, chief of Family of Systems Architecture Team at Hanscom Air Force Base in Lexington.
The Master of Ceremonies is Paul C. McNaught, a veteran of the Korean War and commander of American Legion Post 259. Larry Stanford, a Korean War veteran, who serves as chaplain of VFW Post 8164, will conduct the opening prayer.

Tewksbury Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
2nd Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk Charity Event
On Memorial Day, May 25, 2015, Tewksbury Country Club will be sponsoring a 5K Fun Run/Walk to benefit Strongwater Farm – A Therapeutic Equestrian Center whose focus is to support Veterans suffering from PTSD and the emotional and social well-being of people with disabilities. . In addition, your support will help defray maintenance costs of Tewksbury’s 9/11 Memorial which has been selected as one of the top memorials in the world.
The event takes place on the grounds of the Tewksbury Country Club Pre-Register to run or walk in this event for $30. Register day of event for $35. Registration opens at 7 a.m. Race starts at 8 a.m.
Memorial Day Parade Details
The Memorial Parade will be held on Monday, May 25 at 2 p.m. starting at the Ryan School and ending at Brooks Plaza (next to Mac’s Dairy Farm).
Main Street from Marshall Street to Livingston Street and all side streets that enter onto Main Street in that area will be closed from approximately 12:45 to 5 p.m.
Detours
The detour for Main Street (northbound) heading toward Lowell from the Wilmington line will be: Livingston Street to East Street to Main Street. The detour from Main Street (southbound) heading toward Wilmington from Lowell line will be Marshall Street to Whipple Road to Shawsheen Street to Main Street.
Pleasant Street will be closed in both directions from noon to 5 p.m. for the parade marchers to line up.
