Officials are asking for help in having sign returned, no questions asked.

The first Adopt-An-Island sign in Tewksbury is missing.

Tewksbury Beautification Committee members say the sign disappeared sometime between Sunday and Tuesday of this week. It was located on an island at the corner of Pleasant and Whipple.

The sign can be returned, no questions asked, to the town DPW, Police Department or Temporary Town Hall.

Committee members want residents to know the project is to help make Tewksbury a neater place and any help in returning the sign is appreciated.

Back in June, Zak and Ryan Bennett, with support from their dad, Bob, became the first official “Islanders” in Tewksbury. Jumping at the chance to beautify a traffic island in town, the Bennett boys quickly submitted their application and got to work, adopting the two islands at Whipple and Pleasant, a location they pass multiple times each day on the way to school, sports and other activities.
