Police Respond to Several Calls About Suspicious People

The following is an excerpt from the Tewksbury Police log from Sunday through Wednesday afternoon. Police responded to several calls about suspicious people and arrested a man after he failed to stop for police.
Calls For Suspicious People
On Monday and Tuesday, police responded to several calls alerting them of suspicious people. At 8:15 a.m. Monday, police went to Helvetia Street after a resident reported a man walking around the neighborhood in a green jacket, carrying a box with stickers on it. The man was gone when police arrived.

At 8:51 a.m. Monday, police went to Easement Road for a report of a suspicious van parked in front of the house. The van belonged to a worker who was repairing the bathroom. At 11:32 a.m. Monday, police arrested Douglas G. Milley, 52, 91 Martha Avenue, on two warrants.
At 2:10 p.m. Monday, police responded to a bank on Main Street after a person reported seeing two people in a car in the parking lot "acting suspicious." The person told police the people looked "nervous" and kept looking in the backseat and in the rearview mirror. When police arrived, they spoke to the people in the car who were not up to anything suspicious, police said.

At 4:33 p.m. Tuesday, police went to Rogers Street after a resident reported a suspicious man standing in a driveway. The man was the neighbor's son who had recently moved home.
Man Asks For Money then Runs From Police
At 7:04 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to a Main Street supermarket after shoppers complained a man was asking them for money. He had left the scene in his car when police arrived. When police activated their lights, the man did not pull over for several minutes. Police arrested Michael Beraldi, 54, 4 Mt. Pleasant St., Billerica, and charged him with failure to stop for police, reckless driving, driving after license suspension, assault with a dangerous weapon, destruction over $250, failure to stop or yield and resisting arrest.
Hypodermic Needles Found
Monday at 7:02 p.m. police removed hypodermic needles from the ground on Livingston Street.
Also on Monday:
At 2:52 p.m. Monday, police responded to Main Street for an unwanted person asking people for money. Police arrested Jamie Proulx, 26, 118 Butterfield St., Lowell, and charged him with trespassing.
Sunday at 5:22 p.m., Police arrested James Perry, 21, 246 Aiken Ave., Lowell was arrested on two warrants and also charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle.
