Tewksbury Eighth-Grader Organizes Holiday Event for Bayberry Residents

Amaya Allen recently organized a holiday concert for Bayberry Assisted Living Community residents in town.

There’s nothing like festive music to get in the spirit of the holidays!

Amaya Allen, an eighth grader at Tewksbury’s John Wynn Middle school,
certainly knows this which prompted her to organize a holiday concert for
the residents of Bayberry Assisted Living Community in town.

Amaya was selected as the 2016 Project 351 Ambassador representing Tewksbury. Project 351 works to unite 8th graders across the Commonwealth and encourage them to spread kindness and service in their own communities. Amaya was chosen for her leadership skills and compassion.

She rallied the Wynn Middle SchoolArt Club and Friends of Wynn Community Service Club to make holiday cards and crafts for the seniors. She also invited several Wynn students, a TMHS student, and a North Street School student to play instruments. Some students played piano, guitar, flute, and trumpet, while others read books such as Yes, Virginia, Santa is Coming to Boston, and The Polar Express.

The residents enjoyed the live music and a sing-along to We Wish You a Merry Christmas. The program was supervised by guidance counselors Jen Dwyer, Jaime Noberini, and Allison Hayes. For more information visit
