Boys let halftime lead slip away, girls put forth great defensive effort.

The Tewksbury High girls gave the three-time defending Division 1 State Champs all they could handle for three quarters before falling, 38-26. The Redmen (3-7) put together their strongest defensive game of the year and did an excellent job on the boards to keep the game close.

Chelsee Porcaro dropped in seven points and Nicole Hamel added six to lead the Tewskbury offense. Andover led just 18-10 at halftime but the Redmen weren't able to make a serious run in the second half.

Andover 78, Tewksbury 55

It was a game of two polar-opposite halves. The Redmen opened the game with an outstanding 16 minutes of basketball, taking a 37-32 lead into halftime.

But any hopes Tewksbury had for pulling off the upset were dashed as Andover came out guns blazing, outscoring the Redmen 30-9 in the third quarter to take the lead and control.
