Redmen Roundup: Volleyball, Golf Teams Bounce Back With Wins

Girls Volleyball

Tewksbury 3, Lowell 1

bounced back from its first loss of the season to swamp Lowell, three sets to one.

, Jenn Cobuccio and Jen Ianacci led the way for the Redmen (2-1), who won the first two sets,25-13 and 25-23, dropped the third set, 17-25, and then put the match away by taking the fourth set, 25-15.

Sugrue continued her strong play with six aces, six kills and three blocks.  Iannacci added eight kills and four blocks, while Cobucci had eight assists.

Boys Soccer

Central Catholic 4, Tewksbury 1

The Redmen dropped to 0-4 on the season with a 4-1 loss to Central Catholic (2-1) on Thursday at the Wynn School. helped keep things close with a goal on a penalty kick in the first half for Tewksbury.

Despite the loss, keeper Cody LaFortune played a strong game in net, making nine saves. Among his stops were some real testers, one coming on a penalty kick. Benn LaFortune and also played well for the Redmen.

Derek Petti (4 and 3), (5 and 4) and Mike Casey (4 and 3) posted easy victories to lead Tewksbury. Jeff Giasullo (1 up), (3 and 1),  Zach Strahan (2 and 1) and Ryan Meade (1 up) also scored wins in their matches.
