Driver Killed In Tewksbury Crash, Police Say

TEWKSBURY, MA — A driver is dead following an accident in Tewksbury on Sunday night, according to police.

Police responded to the single-car crash at 9:33 p.m. in the area of Main Street underneath the Route 495 overpass.

A heavily damaged gray SUV was resting on its side, lodged against the bridge, when police arrived.

Firefighters extracted the driver, who was the only person in the car. The driver was declared dead at the scene of the accident by paramedics.

An investigation is ongoing, "but preliminary findings suggest the driver suffered a medical issue prior to the crash," police said.
