Tewksbury Woman Stabbed Mom Changing Baby At NYC Macy's: Cops
The 38-year-old mom and her husband, who are both LA sheriff's employees, were able to disarm the stabber, police said.
NEW YORK, NY — A Tewksbury woman stabbed a mother who was changing her baby at a New York City Macy's Thursday, police said.
Kerri Aherne, 43, was charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

Aherne carried out the unprovoked attack at Macy's in Herald Square just before 3 p.m., police said.

The wounded woman, 38, and her husband are both employees of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and were able to successfully disarm the attacker and hold her down until authorities could arrive, LASD confirmed to Patch.

"The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was notified by the New York Police Department of an incident that occurred at Macy’s Department Store on Thursday, December 11, 2025," according to a statement from the Sheriff's Information Bureau. "The victim and her significant other are both employees of the LASD."

The stabbed woman was hospitalized and was stable Friday.
