Shuttle Relay Team Shatters School Record at Nike Nationals
Quartet of underclassmen destroy five-year-old record.
This past weekend, the Tewksbury High girls track team sent a relay team to the New Balance Indoor Nationals in New York City with outstanding results.
Juniors Kelly Quigley, Jess Amedee, Ashley Callahan and sophomore Alyssa Zurawski had qualified for the meet as part of the 4 x 55m Shuttle Hurdle Relay. The foursome qualified in their only chance this season when they competed at the MSTCA Division 2 Relays, where they placed 2nd in the 4x50m Shuttle Hurdles Relay. Their time of 30.02 at the Relays was the second fastest in school history for that event.
Since the State Relay meet the girls had their sights set on breaking the 4 x 55m Shuttle Hurdles school record - which is only contested at the National Championships.
