Suspect Arrested within Hours of Bank Robbery

A Somerville man was taken into custody after officers tracked him from the credit union to Motel 6 to a cab that brought him to Lawrence.

Police were able to quickly track down a bank robbery suspect Monday morning following a robbery at the RTN Federal Credit Union in town.

On Monday, Nov. 2, members of the Tewksbury Police Department responded to the RTN Federal Credit Union, located in the Wal-Mart Plaza at 345 Main St., for a report of a robbery that had just occurred. The male bank robbery suspect (who passed a note to the teller) had fled the area on foot prior to the arrival of Tewksbury Police Officers.

Upon conducting a thorough investigation, which included viewing surveillance video from the surrounding businesses (specifically the Wal-Mart and the Motel 6), Officers were able to track the suspect’s movements from the RTN Federal Credit Union to a room at the Motel 6. Subsequent footage displayed the suspect and a female leaving the room and entering a “Yellow Cab” taxi in front of the Motel 6 before Tewksbury Police Officers arrived.

This Yellow Cab service was contacted and advised that this taxi had dropped off the male and female passengers at an address in Lawrence, MA. Tewksbury Detectives then contacted the Lawrence Police Department and advised them of the robbery investigation which included providing a description and the location where the suspect was recently dropped off.

Lawrence Police subsequently located and arrested a female and a male for “Trespassing on Railroad Property” in their city. The male arrestee was positively identified as Daniel S. Doyle, 38, of 286A Summer Street, Somerville.Daniel Doyle was identified as the Tewksbury RTN bank robbery suspect.

An arrest warrant was issued on behalf of the Tewksbury Police Department for Daniel Doyle for “Unarmed Robbery” and he was subsequently taken into Tewksbury Police custody. Daniel Doyle was due to be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Nov. 3.
