Suspect in Route 38 Cafe Robbery Arrested Saturday Night

Officers made an arrest in Thursday night robbery over the weekend.

Tewksbury Police arrested a suspect Saturday night who was wanted for a robbery of the Route 38 Cafe on Thursday, May 14.

On May 16, members of the Tewksbury Police Department arrested Robert Gorski, 23, of 140 Vernon St. in Tewksbury on an outstanding arrest warrant, which was for the following Tewksbury felony offenses: Unarmed Robbery, Aggravated Burglary, and Larceny Over $250.

Official say at approximately 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Robert Gorski was apprehended by Tewksbury Police after he exited a motor vehicle and began fleeing the industrial area of Hillman Street on foot. Once Gorski fled into the thick wooded area behind Hillman Street near Power Company Road, Tewksbury Police officers established a secure perimeter and stood-by for a police K9 to respond to the scene.

However, during this time, Tewksbury officers observed Gorski inside the perimeter and a foot pursuit subsequently ensued.Tewksbury Police officers were able to safely apprehend Gorski inside the swamp behind Hillman Street. Members of the Tewksbury Police Department had been vigorously investigating the probable whereabouts of Robert Gorski since he was identified as the male suspect in an unarmed robbery, just two days prior at the Route 38 Café located at 2493 Main St.

Tewksbury arrest warrants had been issued from the Lowell District Court for Robert Gorski on May 14 for Unarmed Robbery, Aggravated Burglary, and Larceny Over $250. These warrants stemmed from the incident on May 14 at 12:55 AM, in which Tewksbury Police responded to the Route 38 Café for a report of an unarmed robbery. During the robbery, the victim was physically assaulted by Robert Gorski inside the dwelling. Gorski then was able to flee the scene on foot after he successfully stole $285 dollars cash and $20 dollars in change.

Robert Gorski is due to be arraigned at Lowell District Court on Monday, May 18.
