TEWKSBURY, MA —The Town of Tewksbury will hold a Voter Registration Session later this month ahead of next month's Special Town Meeting, the Town Clerk's Office has announced.

The session will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 23, at Town Hall, 1009 Main St., and be open to people who wish to register to vote in person. Town Clerk Denise Graffeo said Sept. 23 is the final date for non-registered voters to register for the Oct. 3 Special Town Meeting.

For those who are registered to vote, there is no need to re-register, Graffeo said.

Voters who wish to register in person must be U.S. citizens, residents of Tewksbury and must be at least 18 years of age on or before Oct. 3.

People who meet those criteria, and have a Massachusetts driver's license, also can submit their voter registration form online or by mail, according to Tewksbury officials.

Voter registration also is available at the Town Clerk's Office, located at Town Hall, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday.

According to Tewksbury officials, voters must be in attendance at the Oct. 3 Special Town Meeting in order to debate and vote on the articles.

Graffeo said that on Friday, Sept. 16, the warrant will be posted on the Town of Tewksbury website containing information regarding the issues that will be voted on at the Special Town Meeting.

According to the town's website, scheduled annual Town Meetings take place in April, for the election of town officials, and May, for consideration of warrant articles.

Though Graffeo did not say specifically what articles will be voted on at the upcoming Special Town Meeting, she said Town Meetings often decide three major things: setting the salaries for elected officials, voting to appropriate money to run the town and voting on the town's local statutes, which are called by-laws.
