Tewksbury Man Arrested For Alleged Taxi Driver Assault

Driver was allegedly assaulted after man refused to pay his fare.

A Tewksbury man is facing multiple charges after allegedly ditching a cab fare and assualting the driving last month.

Scott J. Peters, 24, of 112 Vale Street, Tewksbury, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (knife), witness intimidation, and evading a taxi fare.

According to Tewksbury Police, a call came in around 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 13. The call was from a  cab driver reporting that he was assaulted at knife point at 112 Vale St.  The cabbie said the man he had given a ride from Boston had refused to pay the fare. He also alleged that when he tried to call 911, the man flashed a knife and ordered him to get off the phone. The man then fled on foot.

A police investigation identified the suspect as Peters.  An arrest warrant was issued for Peters, who could not be immediately located.   

However, Peters was arrested and arraigned after being spotted in Lowell District Court on October 30, where he was attending to an unrelated matter.
