Tewksbury PD Part Of Pink Patch Project For Breast Cancer Awareness
The department is taking part for a third year and citizens can get a pink patch by making a donation to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

TEWKSBURY, MA — The Tewksbury Police Department has announced that it is participating in the Pink Patch Project in support of breast cancer awareness for a third year.
The department said it has selected the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute as its charity of choice for the project, and it has asked people to make donations online.
Anyone who makes a minimum $10 donation directly to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is eligible to obtain a pink patch from the TPD, which can be done by completing the Pink Patch Request form.

According to PinkPatchProject.com, the project began at the Seal Beach Police Department in California in 2013, when officers wore pink patches on their uniforms during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In 2015, the Irwindale (California) Police Department, sold their patches to the community, raising over $20,000 for City of Hope, a cancer center.

Today, the program has expanded to several hundred agencies throughout the world, including: police, sheriff, fire, EMS and federal agencies.
