Tewksbury Reports 2,000th Coronavirus Case As Surge Continues
The town added over 100 confirmed cases in under a week, bringing the active caseload to a new high of 868 confirmed and probable cases.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Tewksbury's coronavirus case count continues to rise rapidly, with the town reporting over 800 active cases Tuesday. The latest cases brought the town to over 2,000 cases since March 1.
The caseload increased by over 100 in under a week, with the town reporting 721 confirmed and probable cases Dec. 31. As of Tuesday, the town has 868 confirmed and active cases: 827 confirmed and 41 probable.
Community cases continue to make up the vast majority of cases, 681. There are 42 cases at the State Hospital and 145 in the "unknown category."

With the new cases, the town has had 2,051 cumulative cases, it reported. One hundred residents have died, 980 have recovered and outcomes are unknown for the remaining 103.
