The unemployment rate for residents of Tewksbury continued to decline, dropping to 5.5 percent for the month of November. That figure, provided by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, is down from 5.7 percent in October and down from 5.8 percent in November 2011. A total of 907 Tewksbury residents eligible to work filed unemployment claims or received unemployment benefits in November. Statewide, the November seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate was 6.1 percent, down 0.1 of a percentage point.  Over the year, the statewide unadjusted rate was down 0.3 of a percentage point from the November 2011 unadjusted rate of 6.4 percent.
