Tewksbury Schools React After Losing One of Their Own
Shane Contalonis, 12, of Tewksbury, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 10.

John F. Ryan School student Shane Contalonis, students and faculty alike have come together in greiving the loss, and remembering a bright part of the Tewksbury schools community.
Tewksbury Superintendent of Schools Dr. John O'Connor said students and faculty alike were keeping the Contalonis family in their thoughts.

"We were all saddened by the sudden loss of a sixth grader at the Ryan School," O'Connor said.
Grief counselors were made available to students and faculty on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to help cope with the sudden loss of life, according to O'Connor.

Four to five additional counselors were brought in from outside of the district to support the Tewksbury guidance staff, according to O'Connor.
