Tewksbury Superintendent Chris Malone To Retire

The superintendent told the School Committee at their most recent meeting he had submitted his retirement.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Tewksbury Superintendent Chris Malone plans to retire in early 2022, he told the School Committee at their most recent meeting.

Malone submitted his retirement to the state, he told the committee Nov. 17, as first reported by the Tewksbury Town Crier.

"I've certainly been very proud of a lot of the work we've all been involved in here in Tewksbury Public Schools," Malone said. "It's certainly been my pleasure to be part of it."

The superintendent's retirement had not yet been approved, but will likely become effective on Feb. 28 if approved. Malone had been eligible for retirement for a while, he said.

"Some of the work has obviously been very difficult and complex," Malone said. "It's a very joyous situation for me but it's also work I enjoy doing very much, so it's somewhat of a struggle."

Members of the committee congratulated Malone and thanked him for his service with the district. Malone has been with the district since 2016.
