Tewksbury's National Night Out Forced Indoors Due to Weather

The local event will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 4 at the Senior Center. National Night Out is happening in communities nationwide Tuesday.

Despite a severe thunderstorm warning around the region, the Tewksbury Police Departmen will still be hosting its National Night Out event.

Due to the inclement weather, Tewksbury’s National Night Out event will be indoors at the Senior Center, the town said. The cookout will take place at 4:30 p.m. and a viewing of the movie “Home” at 6 p.m.

The car show has been canceled at the Senior Center, according to the town.

The Tewksbury Police Department is joining forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “32nd Annual National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event.

National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, will involve more than 16,124 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In all, more than 37.8 million people are expected to participate in “America’s Night Out Against Crime”.

The Tewksbury National Night Out event received donations from a number of local organizations, including Big Top Party Rental, Altitude Trampoline Park, Enterprise Bank, Community Teamwork, INC, Tewksbury Credit Union, Tewksbury Fire Department, Tewksbury United Methodist Church, Upper Merrimack Valley Reserve Corps, RTN Credit Union, Lowell General Hospital, Green Meadows Preschool, Patriotic Committee, Tewksbury Rail Trails, Merrimack Valley Pavilion and Tewksbury State Hospital.
