Traffic Stop Leads to Trafficking Arrest

The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Obeying the speed limit is a good idea -- especially if you're carrying a substantial amount of drugs and you're already wanted on outstanding charges.

Tewksbury Police pulled over Joseph Szulewski, 22, of 700 Merrimack St, Apt 2R, Lowell, at around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning (Dec. 4) or speeding. But  Szulewski didn't walk away with just a ticket.

When the officer has Szulewski's name run through the computer, it was discovered he had an outstanding warrant from Somerville District Court for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.

Then, while conducting a search of Szulewski’s property, police discovered approximately 70 grams of Marijuana.

Szulewski was arrested and charged with possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class D Substance (Marijuana).

Szulewski was arraigned later in the day at Lowell District Court.

Additional Arrests:

Judith Sullivan, 31, 19 Morton St., Apt. 2, Boston, was arrested on Dec. 5 on an outstanding warrant.

Eric D. McGuire, 24, 7 Altamont St., Apt. F, Haverhill, was arrested on Dec. 4 on an outstanding warrant.

Additional Incidents:

On Wednesday, Dec. 5, a 9:02 a.m., an Apache Way resident reported that their vehicle had been vandalized some time overnight.

On Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 6:30 p.m., a Brookfield Road resident reported that their were kids outside looking in their window and banging on their door. Officers responded but the juveniles had left the area.
