Two-Alarm Fire Damages Home on Shawsheen Street

As Hurricane Sandy approached New England, Tewksbury firefighters were hit with a new challenge -- a two-alarm house fire.

With Hurricane Sandy and her wind gusts of 50 MPH about to hit town, Tewksbury Firefighters found themselves taking on another challenge Tuesday afternoon -- a two-alarm house fire.

The electrical fire broke out around 12:30 p.m. at 240 Shawsheen St. It appears the fire may have started in the basement of the building.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control and knock it down fairly quickly. No injuries were reported.

According to town records, the two-story, single-family home, located at the corner of Ronald Drive, is owned by Dale and Patricia Lobsien.

Damage estimates were not immediately available but the home is assessed at $312,900.
