Lightning Strike Likely Cause of Two Alarm Fire on Sandlewood Circle

Fire started following a lightning strike as storms rolled into the area Thursday night. No injuries were reported.

Tewksbury Fire Chief Michael Hazel said a two-alarm fire Thursday night on Sandlewood Circle was most likely caused by a lightning strike.

Tewksbury fire received a 911 call from the homeowner at 5:54 p.m. Thursday night from 21 Sandlewood Circle.

Chief Hazel said the homeowner was home at the time of the fire and saw the lights flicker in the house at the time of a lightning strike in the area. The strike happened as severe thunderstorms rolled through the area early Thursday night.

Fire crews quickly put out the fire which was in the ceiling area of the front living room. No injuries were reported. We received the 911 call at 5:54pm. Chief Hazel
