Was a UFO Spotted in Tewksbury Last Year?

TEWKSBURY, MA - Things can get a little bit spooky around these parts. Believe it or not residents across the state regularly report UFO sightings and Tewksbury is no exception.

Last November, a resident reported seeing a bright shooting object in the sky while driving down Rte. 3 leaving town, according to the National UFO Reporting Center. Could it have been a meteor? That's a possibility. The resident said the light streaked through the sky and burned up saying it as a "bright light, appeared bigger than a normal shooting star."

But that wasn't the first time the NUFORC received a report from Tewksbury. Here's a look at other reported sightings dating as far back as 1971:

• Feb. 10, 2014 at 9 p.m. - A resident reported three objects with red and white blinking lights all on the same flight path and none made any noise. They were approximately four to six miles up in the sky. Read the full report >>>

• Jan. 25, 2014 at 10 p.m. - Person reports their brother saw a falling flashing red and green light near Walgreens that resembled a flare. Read the full report >>>

• Oct. 11, 2012 at 4 a.m. - Resident reports seeing a huge white streaking object moving high rate of speeds in night sky. Read the full report >>>

• Jan. 3, 1995 at 4:45 a.m. - Woman reports hearing a noise, going outside and witnessing a tremendous bright light that then burst into multiple objects. Read the full report >>>

• Jan. 7, 1971 at 10 p.m. - On the same night there were numerous sightings from Stoneham to Southern New Hampshire a report from Tewksbury said the individual was with his parents when they witnessed a very intense white light that hit them from behind. "I remember seeing my shadow directly in front of me, so I knew it was behind me, not above me. It only lasted a couple of seconds." Here is a list of the most recent sightings in Massachusetts via the NUFORC:

• April 16, Quincy - Rectangular object went over the highway going west,turned north and disappeared.

• April 15, Dartmouth - "I was sitting out on my back deck with my wife and kids looking up in the sky and saw a round object in the sky left on the moon zigzag."

• April 14, Stoneham - Triangle shaped and visible for five minutes.

• April 14, Westfield - "Went outside to let dog out..noticed triangle shape with 3 lights moving very very slow headed south east."

• April 8, Burlington - "Huge triangular saucer with 3 bright lights lit around the edges and object was hovering over Woburn/Burlington."

• April 8, Taunton - Bright moving lights over Taunton, Massachusetts (NUFORC Note: twinkling" stars?)

• March 23, West Newbury - "A procession of slow moving orange fireball object were observed in the sky."

• March 18, Ludlow - "Small round silverfish objects over Masspike."

• March 9, East Longmeadow - "While starting to take a walk at 6:15 PM, weather clear and 65 degrees, noticed triangle shape with 3 red lights very high up in sky."

• March 6, Orange - "Large object over southwestern sky in W. Massachusetts, bright lights, slow moving object, changing shapes."

• March 3, Baldwinville - "Spotted a large green fireball shoot straight down from the sky."
