Weekend Agenda: Friday Morning Matinee at the Library, Tewksbury Scouts Sign Ups and More

Friday, Sept. 20

Several Redmen teams are in action on Friday. Find out who is playing as well as when and where.

A Friday Morning Matinee at the Tewksbury Public Library will feature 'Behind The Candelabra," a biopic of Liberace starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon. The movie starts at 10:30 a.m. and free popcorn and lemonade will be provided. Find out how to register here.


Saturday, Sept. 21

Check out Tewksbury’s 5th Annual Zero Waste Day event, held in the Wynn Middle School parking lot, 1 Griffin Way from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. More than a dozen local non-profit organizations will be on hand to accept your gently used donations of items ranging from clothing to household goods to bikes to building supplies.  Additionally, fee-based electronics recycling will be available. Find out more here.

Sunday, Sept. 22

Sunday is Tewksbury Scouting Sign up Day.  If you would like your son to experience Pinewood Derby Car Racing, Overnights on a Battleship in Battleship Cove or at the Museum of Science, along with time outdoors at camp, bring them to the sign up event Sunday afternoon from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m at Tewksbury Congregational Church. The Wilmington Chamber of Commerce will host Wilmington's 9th annual half marathon and 5K run or walk this Sunday, Sept. 22. Here are some important times for runners and spectators:

• 8 a.m.            Registration Tables Open
• 10:10 a.m.     Shotgun Start For Both Races
• 11:15 a.m.     5K Awards
  
• 12:30 p.m.     Half Awards

The Wilmington Farmers Market will be open on the Swain Green from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. WFM will hold it's first annual Doll Stroller Parade at noon and National Sharpening will be at the market to sharpen any knives you bring. Find out more here.
