Wakefield Gets Chance To Say Goodbye To Fire Lieutenant Who Died Of Cancer

WAKEFIELD, MA — The town will have a final chance to pay their respects to a fire lieutenant who died this weekend.

Lt. Robert A. Ford died of cancer Sunday. He was 48 and served 16 years in the Wakefield Fire Department.

"Everyone in the Wakefield Fire Department is saddened by the loss of Lt. Ford, who served the department with courage and dedication for 16 years," Chief Michael Sullivan said. "Our thoughts are with his family, including his wife Michelle and three children."

Ford is survived by his wife, Michelle, and three children, Robert, Caroline and Michael.

There will be a wake and visiting hours Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home. A firefighter walkthrough will be held at 3:40 p.m.

A funeral will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Florence Parish. The burial shall be private.
