‘Barely Enough For A Snowman’: How Much Snow Fell Around Greater Boston Sunday?

The National Weather Service shared snow total measurements for multiple communities around Boston after winter weather this weekend.

WAKEFIELD, MA — The Greater Boston region got its first taste of snowy weather this winter on Sunday, with flurries giving way to heavier snow in places beginning Sunday afternoon.

Snow lingered into the early hours of Monday morning, but largely tapered off before the start of the workweek. Monday drivers, as a result, were spared from some of the issues seen on roads Sunday afternoon and evening.

All told, the heaviest of snow hit in Western Massachusetts, with much of the state west of Springfield and I-91 forecast to receive upward of six inches of accumulation, according to the National Weather Service.

Flakes still piled up in the Boston area, though, causing forecasters at the National Weather Service to adjust their projections upward from initial forecasts for less than an inch of accumulation in and around the city.
