Today is Friday, Nov. 1. Here are five things worth knowing today.

Wakefield DPW has announced curbside leaf and yard waste collections on Saturday, Nov. 9 and Saturday, Nov. 23. All containers must be curbside by 7 a.m., with leaves and grass placed in biodegradable paper bags or barrels. Branches must be tied in bundles, no larger than 3 feet long and 16 inches in diameter. No plastic bags accepted. Call 781-246-6301 for information.

On Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m., the Beebe Library welcomes cave explorer Aaron Tester for a talk about his experiences exploring the various types of caves found in Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky and elsewhere.

The next Linden Tree Coffeehouse performance is Saturday, Nov. 2 at 8 p.m. with Pete and Maura Kennedy, as well as an opening set from young fiddling prodigy “Fiddling Quinn.” Tickets are $18. Complete info on this and other shows can be found at this link.

An art and craft show featuring artists from Wakefield and Melrose has an opening reception tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Beebe Estate Gallery, 235 West Foster Street in Melrose. The gallery is open Saturdays in November from 11 to 3 p.m.
