Melrose Football Crushes Wakefield on Thanksgiving Day

The Red Raiders now head into a Super Bowl contest with a full head of speed.

The Melrose Red Raiders varsity football team improved to 12-0 Thursday morning, crushing the rival Wakefield Warriors in a Thanksgiving Day tilt, 27-8.

Running back Mike Pedrini turned in a monster performance. He tallied over 100 yards on eight carries. Melrose built a 20-0 halftime lead and never looked back.

The victory marked Melrose’s second this season over Wakefield. The first win came in the opening round of the MIAA playoffs back in October.

Melrose’s season is not over just yet. They will face Dartmouth in the Division 3 Super Bowl next Saturday. The game will be played at Gillette Stadium.
