Production Crews Come To Wakefield For HBO Filming
HBO's "Julia" is the latest Hollywood production to film scenes in Wakefield.
WAKEFIELD, MA — Production crews were on hand at the Wakefield Bowladrome in Wakefield on Friday morning as the site hosted a previously announced day of filming for an HBO streaming show.
Wakefield Town Manager Stephen Maio told town councilors last week that crews from HBO’s “Julia” would be coming to Wakefield on Nov. 4.
Julia is a largely biographical look at chef Julia Child. It premiered earlier this year on the HBO Max streaming service.

As of 8:30 a.m., though, a production trailer could be seen at the Bowladrome site flanked by other security and production personnel.
Cones had blocked off a section of parking spaces along Wakefield’s Water Street to the entrance to the nearby Shaw’s supermarket parking lot.
Wakefield and the Wakefield Bowladrome are no stranger to the Hollywood spotlight, drawing multiple sets of film crews to the area in recent years.
The projects have varied. But the vintage appeal of the historic Bowladrome has continued to intrigue producers and location scouts, according to Maio.
