Wakefield Driver Charged With OUI In Reading Crash: Police
Two drivers were charged with operating under the influence following accidents in Reading over the weekend.

WAKEFIELD, MA — Two people were arrested for drunk driving accidents in Reading over the weekend. One was a Wakefield man.
Police were called to Main Street (Route 28) and Bethesda Lane for reports of a car that hit a telephone pole Saturday.
A 2016 Volvo SUV had flipped onto its roof in the crash. The telephone pole had exposed wires that had fallen into the road.

Police found the driver standing next to the crashed SUV.
Luka Nikita Charles Powers, 23, of Wakefield, was charged with OUI liquor second offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, and speeding.

There were no reported injuries.
Police determined Powers was operating under the influence following a field sobriety test.
Powers was held on $290 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Woburn District Court at a later date.
In a separate incident, Reading police responded to a report of a crash on John Street on Friday at 10:36 p.m.
A gray Land Rover had crashed into a telephone pole. The driver left the vehicle before police arrived and was being assisted by witnesses.
No one was injured. The driver was later transported to an area hospital as a precaution.
The driver, a 30-year-old Reading woman that police did not identify, was charged with OUI liquor second offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, license suspended for OUI, marked lanes violation, and speeding.
The driver received a summons and will appear for arraignment in Woburn District Court at a later date.
