Wakefield Has 10K Masks On Order; 141 Coronavirus Cases
"We have not seen a surge really in the Melrose or Wakefield communities at this point," Health Director Ruth Clay said.
WAKEFIELD, MA — The town has ordered 10,000 masks to help combat the spread of the new coronavirus. Wakefield will put out information on how they will be distributed when they arrive.
Health Director Ruth Clay said in Wednesday night's Board of Health meeting Wakefield had masks in stock from the H1N1 pandemic and thousands more paper ones as part of emergency preparedness. Masks have been delivered to all senior living homes and the food pantry.
Clay said there are 141 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Wakefield.

"We have not seen a surge really in the Melrose or Wakefield communities at this point," she said.
Clay also said the National Guard has been to nursing homes in Melrose and Wakefield, testing asymptomatic and symptomatic residents.
