Wakefield MCAS Results Comparable To State Averages

Students exceeded state average for "proficient or higher" in all but one subject/grade level.

The 2013 MCAS scores for Wakefield were generally comparable to the state average and in most cases, higher.

Students exceeded the state average for “proficient or higher” in all grades and subject levels, except for 5th grade sci/tech, which matched the state average of 51%. In math, Wakefield students exceeded the state average for proficient or higher, 69-61, and in sci/tech, by a 60-53% margin.

In the “needs improvement” category, 17% of Wakefield students scored in this category for English, compared to 23% statewide. The numbers were closer in the math (24-25%) category, and 32-35% in sci/tech.
