Wakefield Pickpocket Wanted For Larceny
Wakefield police released a photo of the suspect today.
WAKEFIELD, MA - Wakefield police are investigating a reported pick-pocketing that occurred Tuesday afternoon at the Quick-Mart.
"The man pictured is a person of interest that we'd like to speak with. If you know his identity or have any information to share, please contact Wakefield PD at 781-245-1212 or 781-246-6328 and reference case 16-10221. You may remain anonymous. Thank you," a release from Wakefield Police said.
According to police, on Aug. 2, at approximately 1:30 p.m., an elderly man was waiting in line at the Quick Mart, 377 Lowell St., to make a purchase. As he paid for his items, he noticed a white man, who appeared to be in his 20s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, standing behind him, police said.

As the elderly man left the store, the man in the sweatshirt opened the door for him and followed him outside, police said. While opening his car door, the elderly man felt a nudge above his left hip, police said. When he got in the car, he noticed that his wallet was missing and observed the man in his 20s walking away from the area, police said.
A few hours later, the elderly man found his wallet in his mailbox, however, $400 in cash was missing, police said.
Wakefield Police said they are interested in speaking with the man in the Quick Mart surveillance photos and anyone with information about this individual should immediately contact 781-245-1212.
