Wakefield Police Lieutenant Graduates From FBI National Academy

Joseph Anderson is the ninth officer in the history of the Wakefield Police to graduate from the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

WAKEFIELD, MA — Wakefield Police Lieutenant Joseph Anderson graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy in Quantico, Virginia last week, Wakefield Police Chief Steven Skory announced on Monday.

Anderson was one of 235 law enforcement officers graduating from the academy on Sept. 13, becoming the ninth officer in the history of the Wakefield Police Department to reach this milestone.

The academy is held at the same facility in Quantico where the FBI trains new special agents and intelligence analysts. The academy aims to enhance law enforcement skills and credentials for graduates to then return to their departments or other agencies.

He came to Wakefield in 2011, where he earned a promotion to the rank of Sergeant in 2014. Anderson was promoted to Lieutenant rank in 2019, currently leading the Wakefield Police Department’s night division.

Anderson oversees training and emergency response planning in his role and chairs the Wakefield Traffic Advisory Committee.

The 10-week FBI National Academy covered a variety of topics including communication, leadership and fitness training.

“The knowledge and skills that (Anderson) has developed at the National Academy will benefit both the department and the Town of Wakefield,” Skory said this week.
