Wakefield Resident Honored In State Legislature Event

Saritin Rizzuto earned special recognition last week after being nominated as a Latino Excellence Honoree.

WAKEFIELD, MA — Wakefield’s Saritin Rizzuto earned special recognition last week as a Latino Excellence Honoree from the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus.

State Rep. Kate Lipper-Garabedian nominated Rizzuto to receive the honor. She announced this news on Thursday of last week after a virtual ceremony the previous night.

“Saritin Rizzuto has worked in a variety of settings that reflect her passion and commitment to improving the lives of others,” Lipper-Garabedian wrote. “Saritin’s work has been as tireless as it has been compassionate.”

Rizzuto is a nonprofit and banking professional currently working as the vice president of emerging populations and community relations at Metro Credit Union. She is also a member of the board of trustees for the Immigrant Learning Center, Phoenix Academy Charter School, Casa Myrna, North Suffolk Mental Health, the East Boston Social Center and the Newmarket Business Association.

She is a member of the Governor’s Public Education Nominating Council and a previous president of both the North Suffolk Mental Health Board of Directors and the Rotary Club of Chelsea.

Her work has ranged in focus from teen health education, to AIDS advocacy, to mental health and addiction awareness, as noted in a graphic shared with Lipper-Garabedian’s announcement.

Rizzuto is also a supporter of the Wakefield Boys and Girls Club and the Wakefield business community, as noted in last week’s announcement, running a holiday dinner and gift drive for seniors in partnership with other area community members.
