Wakefield Town Council Notes -- August 18, 2025

A summary of Wakefield's Town Council meeting on August 18, 2025, from Town Councilor Jonathan Chines

Town Administrator Search | Wakefield, MATown Administrator Search | Wakefield, MAAt Monday night's meeting, the Town Council voted to appoint Denise Casey as Wakefield's new Town Administrator, pending negotiation of an employment agreement. Ms. Casey currently serves as the Deputy Town Administrator in North Andover, and has prior experience working in Wilmington and Lexington. I was particularly impressed with her thorough approach to performance management, her track record breaking down department siloes to improve community services, and her collaborative and open communication style. Councilors Constas, Carney, and me were appointed to a subcommittee to negotiate Ms. Casey's contract. I anticipate that the Town Council will have a brief meeting next week to approve a draft agreement for presentation to Ms. Casey.

We were fortunate to have four exceptional finalists interview for the Town Administrator position, all of whom participated in a rigorous and thorough screening process. I'm grateful for the positive engagement of everyone who participated in the process, including the candidates, the Town Administrator Screening Committee, our search firm, and my Town Council colleagues. I'm proud of the choice we made, and I'm looking forward to working with Ms. Casey in the years to come.
