Beer Garden, Touch-A-Truck, Live Music, More Planned For Wakefield Town Day

Wakefield recently released updated plans for its Town Day celebration on the Town Common next month.

WAKEFIELD, MA — Plans for next month’s Town Day celebration in Wakefield are continuing to take shape, with organizers announcing a new slate of scheduled attractions on Wednesday.

Town Day is set for Oct. 8 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the Wakefield Town Common. All are welcome, as noted in this week’s announcement.

Planned festival highlights now include:

  • Local food vendors and the Mass Water Resource Authority filling station
  • Children’s activities and a touch-a-truck showcase
  • Beer garden featuring Idle Hands Craft Ales
  • Live music performance by the Wakefield School of Rock and DJ entertainment
  • Cornhole tournament
  • Live classes and demonstrations
  • Local nonprofits, exhibitors, and artisans.
  • Flu vaccine clinic for individuals five and older, managed by Wakefield’s Health Department.

Teams can preregister to participate in the cornhole tournament using the link here. Though teams are encouraged to register online ahead of Town Day, on-site registration may also be available depending on the number of teams.

Cornhole teams should plan to arrive at the Town Common at 1:30 p.m. on Town Day.

The flu vaccine clinic is managed by the Wakefield Health Department. Patients needing a vaccine should pre-register prior to Town Day and wear a short sleeve shirt to receive their shot

Beyond ongoing attractions on Town Day, the live entertainment/programming schedule is as follows:

  • 1:10 p.m - Fencing class with Michael Tarascio
  • 1:30 p.m. - Wakefield School of Rock performs
  • 2:30 p.m. - Soccer Shots class
  • 3:00 p.m. - Tai Chi class with Donald Wong
  • 3:30 p.m. - Yoga class with Move2Joy Yoga

The Soccer Shots program is open to children ages three to five years old. It serves as an introduction to soccer featuring staff-led sessions of soccer activities.

Town Day festivities are organized by the town of Wakefield and the Wakefield Lynnfield Chamber of Commerce.

Organizers are still accepting applications from exhibitors interested in hosting a booth at Town Day.
