Woman Rescued In Wakefield 2-Alarm Fire
One person was taken to the hospital and two people were displaced following a blaze in Wakefield.
WAKEFIELD, MA — Everyone evacuated safely following a fire in Wakefield on Sunday night, according to a Facebook post from the Town of Wakefield.
A trash barrel fire was reported in the alleyway of an Albion Street address at 8:03 p.m.
Firefighters arrived and found heavy fire extending up the exterior wall that was spreading.

Police alerted firefighters that someone was trapped on the rear fire escape of a neighboring building. Police and firefighters together raised a ladder and assisted the woman down to safety.
Numerous other area fire departments assisted in extinguishing the second-alarm blaze. The fire was declared under control in about 45 minutes.

One person was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Two people were displaced by the blaze.
Provisional Chief Thomas Purcell said, “Thanks to the strong work of the initial responding companies, the Department was able to quickly extinguish the heavy fire found on arrival, stopping any extension into the attic space of the building. The fire would have surely extended to the structure(s) on either side of the fire building due to the close proximity."
The fire remains under investigation.
