Woman Sped Through Wakefield Event With Apparent Weapon: Police

A woman sped through Porchfest brandishing "what appeared to be a rifle," according to police.

WAKEFIELD, MA — A woman was arrested Saturday after she sped through the crowded Greenwood neighborhood reportedly carrying a rifle, according to police.

The incident occurred during Porchfest, an event featuring live music and bands that play on the front porches of homes, where residents can walk and listen to music.

Police received numerous reports of a woman speeding in a gray Subaru and brandishing what appeared to be a rifle at people congregated in the area. The woman left the area before police arrived.

Witnesses provided information that helped officers identify the person accused. Police located Brigid MacDonough, 42, of Wakefield, was arrested and charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon.

She will be arraigned in Malden District Court on Monday.

No one was injured.

The incident remains under investigation as police have not located the alleged gun.
