Walpole, Mass. – In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, New Pond Village, a continuing care retirement community in Walpole, Mass., is honoring one of its own for her dedication to helping others. Rosalie Bloom will be presented with New Pond Village’s second-annual Heart of the Community Award in a special reception at the community this week.

New Pond Village, managed by Benchmark Senior Living, created the Heart of the Community Award to recognize the important role philanthropy plays in enriching lives and to showcase the impact one person can have, especially in their retirement years. Mrs. Bloom, who was nominated by one of her New Pond Village neighbors for the award, volunteered in the Boston Public Schools and with the Norwood Food Pantry before moving to New Pond Village, where she is extremely active on resident committees and chairs the Welcome Committee.

“Mrs. Bloom is instrumental in making New Pond Village a vibrant community through the many ways she volunteers her time helping others,” said Benchmark Senior Living Chairman and CEO Tom Grape. “Her outreach to new residents and their families, along with her efforts keep her neighbors feel connected to the community, mirror Benchmark’s core values — Called to Care, Better Together, and Be the Benchmark.”

As chair of the Welcome Committee, Mrs. Bloom acts as a self-appointed ambassador to new residents and their families, providing support through their transition to their new home, engaging them in activities and introducing them to new friends. She also draws on her career in senior living to create engaging, resident-led activities.

“When you think about the heart of this community, you immediately think of Rosalie Bloom,” said Campus Executive Director Adam Manchester. “She gives so much to New Pond Village and we’re thrilled to honor her with this award.”
