New Pond Village Warms Up the Season with Cookies, Carols and Cocoa!

Community celebrates the season with family traditions

Earlier this December, the associates and residents of New Pond Village welcomed guests to the community with plenty of Christmas cheer. The event, Welcome Home for the Holidays: Cookies, Carols and Cocoa celebrated timeless traditions and sweet treats.

Guests to the community on December 5th were able to enjoy treasured family cookie varieties among twinkling decorations and a quartet of Dickensian carolers. Residents Rosalie Bloom and Shirley Hutchins, along with associates Kara Miller and Lacey Rainey, baked their favorite treats for guests to take. They even shared the recipes on cards for guests to take home and add to their holiday traditions.

“Every year my father and I would make many batches [of these cookies] to share with family and friends,” said New Pond Village Food & Beverage Director Lacey Rainey of her family’s butterball cookies (recipe below). “It’s one of the very first recipes I learned, and I carry on the tradition with my daughter.”

No cookie is complete without something to dunk it in, so guests also indulged in a hot cocoa bar or glasses of milk before touring New Pond Village’s apartment homes.
