Obituary: Patricia Hill LeBuhn St. Onge

Former Walpole resident dies at 88.

Patricia St. Onge passed away peacefully at her home in Sonoma, CA on March 15, 2025, at the age of 88. Pat was a wonderful person known for her grace, steadfastness, and love of a good story or joke, especially from her husband, Ron. She was able to recognize when others were in need and never hesitated to help. She faced the difficulties of Parkinson’s disease with the same grace and optimism that defined her life.

Born in Walpole, Massachusetts in 1936, Pat grew up surrounded by her three sisters, Alison, Kitsie and Linda Hill and an extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins spending many summers in Mattapoisett. These were important relationships throughout her life. She was a standout athlete at Walpole High School, where her exceptional talent in field hockey led to her recruitment by Bryn Mawr College. After a year at Bryn Mawr, Pat transferred to the University of Colorado at Boulder where she joined the Alpha Phi sorority and continued playing field hockey—whenever she managed to rise for those early morning practices. She graduated with a degree in economics and political science in 1958 and returned to Boston.

In 1960, Pat married David LeBuhn, and they established a home in Darien, Connecticut in 1964. Pat’s athletic prowess continued throughout her life playing competitive tennis and paddle at the Tokeneke Club, and later in life golf, proudly hitting two holes-in-one after the age of 70. She had a wonderful group of friends in Darien who enriched her life. She was an active member of the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk and after moving to Winston-Salem, NC in 1976, volunteering in her children’s schools and for the metropolitan transit authority. She and her family then returned to Darien in 1979.

In the early 1980’s, Pat went back to school to learn programming and worked as a computer programmer at Perkin-Elmer, becoming one of the early female COBOL programmers at a time when women were just beginning to enter the computing profession. Later, she transitioned to a career at Wheeler Real Estate.

Pat married Ron St. Onge in 1999. They divided their time between Florida and Connecticut, playing lots of golf and traveling extensively. Pat visited every continent except Antarctica.

Pat loved and is survived by her three children and their spouses: Gretchen LeBuhn (Mark Reynolds) of Lompoc, California; Donald LeBuhn (Kelly Halligan) of Sonoma, California; and Andrew LeBuhn of Palm Beach, Florida; her three sisters, Kitsie Howard; Alison Schueneman, and Linda Hess; and four step-children: Jim, Ronnie, Jeff, and Sarah St. Onge. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Samantha, Andrew, and Mackenzie LeBuhn, and Jarrett and Gillian Reynolds, and her ex-husband, David LeBuhn.

She asked us to share that she had a wonderful time in her life.

A memorial will be held at a later date in Darien. She requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, P.O. Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741.
