WALTHAM, MA — Looking for a spot to take someone for a romantic dinner on Valentine's Day? Or don't subscribe to that holiday but might consider taking your sweetie out for a romantic day some other day of the week? We asked Waltham folks which might be their best spots for a romantic dinner.
Here's what the top answers were:
- Solea - This spot at 388 Moody St. features Spanish Tapas, and is offering a Valentine's Day prix fixe menu - a three-course tapas dinner for two for $69 this week. The menu includes several choices like the crusty Brazilian cheese bread to Artichoke Mushroom, goat cheese crostini and ceviche and sauteed artichoke hearts and garlic shrimp or lobster and crab stuffed ravioli, or roasted duck.
- Il Capriccio - This is known for its Northern Italian food and extensive wine list. It's at 588 Main St. The menu features antipasti like yellow fin tuna tartare with avocado and house made potato chips and steamed mussels with white wine and garlic. Look for pasta like fettuccine bolognese with Reggiano Parmesan or black risotto with calamari and white shrimp. Then there are the mains, that include veal, or swordfish or lamb.
- Balani - This relatively new spot has it all, twists on comfort food, small plates and cocktails in a unique setting at 469 Moody St. Check out their crispy confit duck wings, or pork belly tacos, short rib, roasted eggplant or crisp Atlantic salmon.
- Tempo - Thinking trendy but casual? Tempo at 474 Moody St. This spot also offers a gluten free menu - think pan seared scallops to an impressive salad menu that includes roasted pumpkin salad. The mains include things like vegetarian Sage Risotto with Burrata, or go for the mesquite grilled hanger steak and porterhouse pork chop with five cheese mac n cheese.
