Family with Waltham Ties Needs Your Help!

Erin (Jacob) Tallent; (formally of Waltham, Ma.)and Steven Tallent; (formally of South Boston) now reside in the small community of Chelmsford, Ma. just 30 minutes north of Boston with their three young boys all under the age of 7; Steven, Jack & Daniel.  Active members of the community and extremely involved with their children both Erin & Steven take great pride and joy in the times spent as a family. Steven works diligently as the sole provider to support his family in the carpentry field and Erin supports the family and raises their three boys.

After months of planning the family was excited to venture to Hersey Park for a vacation that was planned around quality time, fun and relaxation.

After a hot day in the park Steven began to feel ill and through a series of events that got worse as the moments ticked on it became clear what started as a headache and assumed heat stroke became more serious. When Steven became dizzy, nauseous, loss the ability to walk and his vision the family rushed to Massachusetts and immediately went to the ER. After numerous tests it became clear that Steven had a blood vessel that had ruptured in his neck which caused a blood clot that traveled and caused a stroke impairing his ability to walk, see and have complete use of his right side; At 40 years old, Steven was 100% incapacitated and unable to care for his family. Moved to Mass General, his initial prognosis confirmed they quickly assembled medically to determine the correct path towards recovery. Now at Spaulding where he will remain in the care of doctors & therapists who will help him learn to walk, use his right side and regain the capacity to care for himself, the Tallent Family has a long road ahead. The medical community advises a cautious timeline towards quality of life recovery to be 6 -12 months; however the prognosis for Steven to return to his chosen profession remains dim. Imagine the joys of a family vacation brought sick by an illness, let alone a life altering event.
