Walthamites are invited to create the art being used in a community quilt fundraiser designed to help the Waltham Arts Council.
A 10 square by 10 square quilt will be created by participating Waltham individuals and civic leaders, then presented as a gift to the City of Waltham at the September 2013 Mayor’s Day on the Common. Each square will be each persons’ idea of their favorite “Waltham Places.”
Squares cost $10, and the art templates are available now at the People’s United Bank branch on Main Street, Waltham, by calling the Waltham Arts Council offices at 781-893-2787, and will be available at the Waltham Arts Council booth at Riverfest, and the Concerts on the Common – until the 100 squares are sold out.
“The Waltham Arts Council is excited to work with the Community to create a permanent piece of art for the City. Right now we have 100 blank canvasses to fill. I can not wait to see what our residents come up with.” says Robert DiGregorio, Jr., President of the Arts Council.
The proceeds will go to the Waltham Arts Council, a 501©3 non-profit, to continue their mission of bringing the arts to the Waltham community.
